Sunglasses: Puurfect Pair

It always amazing how every summer I need a new pair of sunglasses. It took me forever to figure out how not to leave them on the table at a restaurant and to always and I mean always keep them in a case in my handbag to avoid any scratches. Now wearing the same pair all summer just seems boring.  Sunglasses are the perfect way to update your look. After seeing Scartlett Johannson wearing this amazing pair by Tom Ford I knew I had to find a pair of cat eye sunglasses.

I took a moment to think about how the cat eye sunglasses craze began and it brought me to one of my favorite movies featuring my favorite style icon, Audrey Hepburn. In the film, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Audrey Hepburn plays Holly Golightly.  A single woman living in NYC who appears to be the ultimate party girl, who dresses the part in almost every scene. She wears these amazing pair of sunglasses that are big, yet has a cat eye look.

My search finally ended when I found this puurfect pair by Alexander McQueen. The two-tone gives it a bit of edge and the cat eye shape is modern and not over kill. What do you think about this pair? Would Holly Golightly wear these?  They also come in other colors.

2011 MTV Movie Awards – Sequin is Back According to Leighton Meester

Best Dressed for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Leighton Meester

My favorite part of most awards shows is the Red Carpet.  I really just want to know who wore what and how. By far my favorite look of the 2011 MTV Movie Awards was by Leighton Meester. An all sequin little number by Balmain. It was perfect.  Simple shoes for a spectacular dress.  A dress that says, I know this is not the Oscars, but I’m not my aunt’s baby shower like some people. (Too many day dresses for an event like this.  Too many to name, Reese Witherspoon).

Balmain has been around since 1945 and catered to Hollywood screen goddesses like Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn, Brigitte Bardot, and Sophia Loren. Thanks to designer Christophe Decarnin, revised the labels look from elegant evening attire with a focus on draping to a tough-chic look which is now a favorite of among today’s Hollywood starlets.

What goes around comes around! I love the Fashion World.
